Help The Helpers

Help the Helpers

Health care providers, first responders, grocery store workers, and many other community members across the area are on the frontlines helping those in need and ensuring the safety of our loved ones. And for that, we thank them and ask how we can help.

They need support with anything from groceries to pet care, and so much more. We have seen neighbors and friends rally around these heroes and we encourage you to continue to help the helpers.

How Can I Help the Helpers?

  • Follow prevention policies: Essential workers are doing their best to limit the spread of COVID-19. You can do so, too, by following prevention guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health organizations.
  • Donate: Whether it’s money to a charitable organization or food to essential workers working long hours, there are many ways you can help. Businesses, schools, and other institutions can donate unused supplies to UPMC, though we are not accepting personal donations at this time.
  • Give blood: Hospitals and other medical facilities are seeking blood donations, with the national supply of blood falling. You can schedule an appointment with Vitalant, or you can find an American Red Cross blood drive near you.
  • Say thank you: Sometimes a simple “thank you” can go a long way. Whether it’s thanking an essential worker in person or downloading and printing a “I’m Helping the Helpers” window poster below, you can show your appreciation.

Download and print out an “I’m Helping the Helpers” window poster and display it in the front of your home to show your support of the helpers.

For the safety of our community, and to lower the likelihood of exposure to or spreading of COVID-19, you should always follow the social distancing and self-isolation recommendations of the CDC, as well as state and local government officials and health departments.
